Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S (N° 065/400)

A 2016 Golf VII Clubsport S is the most unique thing you could get if you chose a Golf VII GTI. And that’s not that hard to understand. With 310 hp it is still the most powerful Golf GTI ever. In 2016, in honor of the 40th anniversary of the GTI, VW introduced the Golf GTI Clubsport. This GTI Clubsport S was added later that year.

As it should be in modern times, this hardcore hot hatch took the Nürburgring record for fastest front-wheel drive in 2016 with a time of 7:49.21. Is that fast? Some comparison: a 997 GT3 RS Mk1, Murcielago LP640 and BMW M3 GTS did it at the same time.

Speed ​​isn’t the only ‘party trick’ of the GTI Clubsport S (yet, top speed is 265 km/h and 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds). In addition, it is also a very exclusive car: no more than 400 were built.

This copy (number 065) is one of them. The car has only 7,100 km on the clock and was converted to light freight with minor modifications, which means that no BIV is owed and that you can enjoy a reduced annual driving tax!

Where the Clubsport squeezed out a maximum of 290 hp in the temporary overboost mode, the Clubsport S has 310 hp. It is striking that the Clubsport S is more powerful than the Golf 7 R and more powerful than the latest GTI Clubsport. In addition to the engine itself, the exhaust system has also been modified by Volkswagen to achieve 310 hp. The accompanying sound is a nice bonus!

You can search for a long time for a back seat. This has become the victim of a savings program that Volkswagen implemented. Partly due to the elimination of the rear seat / parcel shelf and the double bottom, the weight of the car drops to 1,260 kg. Compared to a normal GTI, the Clubsport S has a roof spoiler, a modified front bumper and a diffuser. Instead of lift at high speed, the Golf GTI Clubsport S now generates downforce.

The Clubsport S is also equipped with different sports suspension. Custom brakes and an aluminum subframe. A large part of the sound insulation has also been omitted.
