The 964 version of the Porsche 911 launched in 1989 was considered rather futuristic at the time because of the integration of the bumpers in body color. Looking back, the 964 now fits neatly into Porsche’s history leading up to the 993 models saying goodbye to a long history of air-cooled 911s.

Although the 964 looked fairly similar to its predecessors, 87 percent of the components were new or redesigned, according to Porsche. The flat-six engine was increased to 3.6 liters and 250 hp and produces strong and stable torque.

The all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 was the form in which the 964 made its debut in 1989.

The 964 appeals to Porsche enthusiasts today because of its somewhat more refined ride and handling (with coil springs and rear shock absorbers), and its vastly improved interior comfort – including a full-length center console and height-adjustable leather seats – combined with an overall driving experience that is slightly more direct compared to the 993 that followed.

The Targa version of the 964 Carrera 4 first appeared in the 1990 model year sales program. The idea was to offer the removable Targa roof one last time as part of the 964 generation. The 911 Carrera 4 Targa delightfully combined the design language of the 1990s with the concept of the 1960s Targa safety convertible.

Today, the 911 Carrera 4 Targa is a sought-after modern classic, this because only 1,329 were produced.

This black 964 Carrera 4 Targa was delivered to its first owner on November 28, 1990 by the Porsche Gottfried Schultz Gmbh in Dusseldorf, Germany. The car has been meticulously maintained throughout its life and still largely wears its original factory paint!

From the factory, the car came with the following options:

  • 437: 8-way power adjustable left seat
  • 438: 8-way power-adjustable right seat
  • 454: Cruise control
  • 498: Without type designation
  • 562: Front airbags
  • 567: Colored windshield
  • 573: Air conditioning
  • 659: on-board computer

The car is completely original, matching numbers and comes with full documentation, Maintenance booklet , tools and air compressor.

Over 18,000€ was spent on maintenance in the last two years. The car just received a major service at Porsche Gelderland!

Because the 964 offers a perfect balance of classic 911 looks and modern comfort, there is a huge demand for the 964 and prices are going up. So, this is the time to buy a 964 before it’s too late!
