Porsche 911 Turbo - 930 - 5 Speed

There is no other car like the Porsche 911 Turbo. Like the 911 itself, the Porsche Turbo has undergone consistent evolution rather than total revolution during its 47-year production run. This is particularly true for the early years of the Turbo, when from 1975 to 1989 it was more often referred to with the internal model designation Typ 930. In those 14 years, the 930 evolved from a fast but agrarian performance weapon to a more sophisticated supercar. It became faster, of course, but the Turbo also became more efficient and easier to drive.

From its more modest beginnings with a 3.0-liter four-speed engine and whaletal spoiler producing 260 horsepower in the 1970s, the 930 had evolved to a 3.3-liter with intercooler and 300 horsepower by the mid-1980s. The last year of 930 production (1989), the 930 received a 5-speed transmission, which made better use of the Turbo’s explosive power.

It was common knowledge that the 930 would benefit from a 5-speed gearbox instead of the 4-speed gearbox used. Therefore, many customers actually wanted a 911 Turbo with 5 gears, but Porsche did not have enough confidence to put the G50 gearbox in the Turbo because of the brute force of these cars. It was not until 1989 that Porsche installed a 5-speed transmission in the 911 Turbo.

This slate gray over black leather interior 930 is one of only 797 European Coupes produced for model year 1989 with the G50 gearbox.

The 1989 Turbos were already very fully equipped from the factory, including air conditioning, electrically adjustable (8-way) front sport seats, sound system, central door locking, etc. In addition, the following options have been added:

• 220 – limited slip differential 40%
• 243 – shortened shift lever
• 340 – Right seat heater
• 383 – Sports seat on the left
• 387 – Sports seat on the right
• 567 – Top tinted windshield
• 650 – Sliding roof

The car is in very nice and perfectly original condition with only 81,000 kilometers on the odometer!
