Although officially announced as the F430’s successor, the 458 was an entirely new design, incorporating technologies developed as part of the Italian manufacturer’s Formula 1 programme. The 458’s specification and performance suggested that it was anything but a ‘junior’ Ferrari, as it boasted a 4.5-litre V8 engine producing 570 hp, an output good enough for a top speed of 325km/h. Reflecting the ongoing trend among supercars towards clutch-less semi-automatic transmissions, a seven-speed Getrag gearbox of that type was the only one available on the 458.

In keeping with Ferrari tradition, the 458’s body was designed by Carrozzeria Pininfarina under the supervision of Ferrari’s design director, Donato Coco. As one would expect of a car with a 325km/h-plus capability, aerodynamics played a major role in the design, yet despite generating considerable downforce the 458’s beautifully curvaceous body was remarkably devoid of extraneous appendages. Former Ferrari Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher had a hand in the design of the interior, which featured a steering wheel incorporating many of the controls normally located on the dashboard or on stalks, as found in modern competition cars.

Despite the apparent handicaps of 135kg weight disadvantage and regular road tyres, the 458 lapped Ferrari’s Fiorano test circuit quicker than the track-focused 430 Scuderia. This was the result of Ferrari going for gold in every department. The 458 represented a quantum leap in technological terms, bringing a hoard of new systems into play to create an enveloping, pure driving experience.

The Ferrari 458 Italia has garnered over 30 international awards in its career. It added two further plaudits to that collection at the International Engine of the Year Awards when its V8 was voted “Best Performance Engine” and “Best Engine Above 4 Litres”. The success being enjoyed by the 458 Italia with both critics and public alike crosses all borders.

This black on black Ferrari 458 Italia was originally delivered in Italy by CDP s.p.a. on January 13th 2011 to its first owner. In 2017 the car went to The Netherlands. To date, the car presumably has had 4 owners.

In terms of equipement, the 458 has on top of the standard equipement a cruise control, yellow brake calipers, 20” painted wheels and a carbon steering wheel with LED’s.

The car is in a very nice 100% accident free condition and currently has 52.000 kilometers on the clock.

This 458 comes with the original owner’s manuals and service booklet in their leather case and lots of service invoices.

It has received its last service in september 2022 by 49.846km.

The 458’s engine was the last naturally aspirated V8 produced by Ferrari and is a key reason why prices of used 458s have now surpassed the prices of used 488 GTBs. Now is the time to purchase one before it’s too late…
